Who We AreThe founder and owner of Chantmarle, John Glare, had been looking for at least a couple of years, for a place to build his dream - a Christian Centre that promotes, encourages and teaches Christianity.
When he put in an offer for Chantmarle, the private owner at the time was literally that day due to give the go-ahead to raze all the extra buildings behind the Manor House, in order to convert Chantmarle back into a country estate...if this had been done, there would be no Chantmarle today.
John's dream was to create a place where every Christian across the world can come and feel both inspired, at home and challenged, where Christians can talk to each other, learn more and even discuss important theological issues. But Christian life is not just about learning, it is also about BEING, so at Chantmarle we offer so much more than simply seminar and meeting facilities. We also want people to come just to be in other people's company, to laugh and to have fun, to relax or to just be alone with God and get away from stressful jobs or difficult times; to come even without any educational or discussional aim. Chantmarle is a place of Christian learning, but it is also, and separately, a place to unwind and enjoy life again, in the company of others or alone. John chose Chantmarle because it is set in the beautiful Dorset countryside, surrounded by nature and history.
